Heat of Solution of Lithium Chloride

Procedure

  1. Add about 200ml water to a 600ml beaker. Add about 60gm LiCl. Temperature increases to about 60oC.
  2. Immerse the probe from the lecture size temperature meter to show class the temperature increase.

Reactions

LiCl (s) + H2O (l) --> Li+ (aq) + Cl- (aq)

dHsoln = -37 kJ/mole = -875 J/gm
